All Star Weekend - New Orleans 3

Sunday. After a rainy start of the day, the sun came out and it was great to walk around and see the city. We got delicious Muffuletta sandwiches for lunch, with beignets for dessert. Then took the trolley to the waterfront and strolled down to the Convention certer, where the Jam Session was going on. At night, the culmination of this whole weekend - the All Star game!!!! Even though the East won for a bit, and despite our nosebleed seats, it was an awesome time watching all the players - when they decided to actually play.
Domingo. O dia comecou chuvoso, mas o sol saiu e foi perfeito, pudemos andar pela cidade e explorar um pouco mais. No almoco, experimentamos o "muffuletta", sanduiche tipico daqui. Delicia! A tarde andamos ate o centro de convencoes onde era o "Jam Session". E finalmente, a noite, o apice do fim de semana - o jogo dos All Stars - os melhores jogadores do Leste e do Oeste sao eleitos pelo publico para jogar juntos. Entao todo os famosos estavam la, e nao decepcionaram.

Today the weather was beautiful so we could see a lot more of the area. We tasted the famous beignets at Cafe Du Monde for breakfast, then walked around a flea market, and saw some shops on Canal St. At night we saw the dunk contest, which was super fun. Even if you don't know a thing about basketball, you could appreciate players dressing as Superman and blowing off cupcake candles in a dunk. Also, I found the coolest mascot ever. It's Stuff, the Orlando Magic dragon. He was cute and silly and hilarious, I kept going back and forward between watching the actual players or the mascot goofing around.

Hoje fez sol a calor entao pudemos andar pela cidade e ver um pouco mais de New Orleans. Provamos os famosos beignets no Cafe Du Monde de cafe da manha, andamos num mercado aberto, e fomos em algumas lojas na Canal St. A noite fomos no dunk contest, que foi ate divertido! Mesmo para que nao entende nada de basquete, e mais um show de acrobacias com jogadores famosos, entao foi legal. Abaixo o video de fiz de Dwight Howard enterrando a bola vestido de Super Homem...

All Star Weekend - New Orleans

We arrived in New Orleans this evening. The French Quarters, where we are staying, is adorable. This is the land of Creoles, those children and descendants of the original French and Spanish settlers. Their legacy is everywhere -- wrought-iron balconies, tall shutters, magnolias on the windows.
One block behind our hotel is Bourbon Street. We walked around there a little after dinner, the whole street is packed with people. It feels really alive and colorful. The All Star crowd adds a little humpf to the party....
Chegamos em New Orleans hoje. Nosso hotel e no French Quarters, bairro agitado mas cheio de casinhas antigas, ruas estreitas, bem frances. Bem atras do hotel e a Bourbon Street, rua famosa cheia de bares, restaurantes, etc, que esta lotada todas as noites.

After a long long red eye flight trip, we arrived in Philadelphia. Will be here for 5 days with the basketball gang.

Dinner + cranium night

Tonight we had people over for some strogonoff. After that we broke out our brand new Cranium game, which was guaranteed laughs for a few hours. Check out Julia's "hamster wheel" gestures....
Hoje fizemos um strogonoff la em casa. Depois do jantar inauguramos nosso novissimo Cranium, que garantiu risadas por algumas horas.....Abaixo a mimica que a Julia fez para descrever "roda de hamster"...
