Volunteering

A big group os adidas designers spent the morning at Union Gospel Rescue Mission downtown, folding and sorting clothes and higiene items for the homeless. Hopefully (or not?) they will find a 400 pound guy to fit into these shorts...
Hoje passamos a manha toda numa organizacao que ajuda mendigos aqui em Portland. A adidas fez uma grande doacao de roupas e produtos de higiene, entao um grupo de designers foi ate la para ajudar a separar tudo e dobrar para por em sacolas que serao distribuidas no dia de Natal. Tomara (ou nao?) que achem alguem que pese 250 quilos para caber nesse short....

Stan Smith visits adidas

Stan Smith came to Portland for the Davis Cup and made a stop at the adidas village. He signed lots of Stan Smiths (the shoes that is), including Cheng's. Since I dont have a pair I was happy with a card. So was Tom. Adrian was angry.
O tenista Stan Smith veio a Portland para a Copa Davis e fez uma visita a adidas. Ele assinou muitos Stan Smiths (tenis que levam seu nome), incluindo do Cheng (veja foto). Ja que eu nao tenho um, peguei autografo num cartao mesmo.

Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving fun...We cooked a full dinner for 2 (that turned out to be a dinner for 2....weeks). The rest of the weekend was sunny and very cold, so we did plenty of walking around PDX. Here's the details....
Feriado de Acao de Gracas. Nos fizemos um completo jantar para 2 (que acabou sendo um jantar para 2.....semanas). O resto do fim de semana foi ensolarado e muito frio, entao passeamos por Portland. Aqui vao os detalhes....

...1.5 Kg de Peito de peru com osso

...Pure de batatas
...Roasted squash
...Aboboras ao forno
...Green bean casserole
...Casserola de vagem
...Arugula, celery greens and beets salad with (homemade!) blue cheese dressing
...Salada de rucula com folhas de aipo, beterraba e molho de gorgonzola.

Cookies

I made cookies for the first time this weekend. Was planning on decorating them also but that proved much harder than it seemed.....So I left most of them plain, which in my opinion is still the best way to enjoy them. The buttery recipe came from this month's Blueprint magazine. Delicious!
Fiz biscoitos pela primeira vez esse fim de semana. Comprei varias coberturas e colorantes para decora-los no final, mas quando comecei percebi que e bem mais dificil do que parece (as cores ficaram MUUUITO vivas e artificiais, as coberturas ficavam grudando em tudo e nada ficou bonitinho como na revista). Entao desisti e deixei a maior parte deles simples mesmo, e na minha opiniao eles sao muito mais deliciosos assim! A receita veio na revista Blueprint desse mes. Delicia!

Rockin'

Every year the Children's Relief Nursery has the Rockin' Horse Art Show and Auction, where they auction 30 wooden horses customized by people in the community. I signed up along with two other designers to do one of them. We ended up spraying it with chalkboard paint, making it ultra-customizable for years to come. We incorporated the 3 stripes in white at the bottom, and all the rest is chalk friendly. "Wild Style" as we called it came all complete with his little bucket of chalk and a mane-eraser. After the paint was dry all the design team was invited to draw something on it, and off it went to the auction. No word on how much $ it raised yet, should find out soon.
Eu e mais 2 designers fizemos esse cavalinho para um leilao beneficente. Todos os voluntarios receberam cavalos de madeira crua, e podiam fazer qualquer coisa para personaliza-los. Nos cobrimos o cavalo todo em spray de quadro de giz , e todos os designers foram convidados para desenharem algo nele. Nosso "Wild Style" foi completo com balde cheio de giz e o cabelo feito de apagador. Ainda nao sei o quanto ele arrecadou no leilao ja que estava na China no dia....
